Part of our job when we go to clients’ homes is to recommend products that we know work. Here are some of our favorites for this time of year:
Brother P-Touch Label MakerWe just plain wouldn’t be able to do our job as well – no matter what the season – without this wonderful little gadget. At our client’s houses we label file folders, boxes, and the shelves that the boxes go on.
In the summer time, put a label on the shelf to denote the beach towels from the regular shower towels. Kids home more often? Label a shelf in the pantry of “acceptable snacks” for them to have when you’re not there.
At this point, we kind of wish Brother would pay us to praise it so highly, but either way. We love it!
OXO POP Food Storage Containers
It’s no secret that the humidity gets higher in the summertime and dry foods can easily get stale.
Our favorite option, by far, is OXO’s POP Containers. They are modular, air tight, and so crystal clear that there is no mistaking what’s inside them. (Although we do recommend labeling the sugar and the salt containers.)

Taking a break from organizing out in East Hampton, we saw these lovely LED candles on the table. Without any actual flame, they are a great way to enjoy an evening barbecue without fear of a bonfire.
